First Runner Up for the
2017 Student of The Year

 

 

The Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Awards Program First Runner Up is a keen, focused, very attentive, well rounded and enthusiastic student. Shari Smith is a 12 year old Head Girl at Summit Academy, New Providence. Shari maintains an accumulative grade point average of 3.96.

Shari is a member of the 77th Nassau Company of The Bahamas Girl Guides Association and was selected as 2014/2015 Brownie of the Year. In addition, she is involved in the School Choir; Lawrence Carroll Dance Academy; Japan Karate and a Young Artist with the ASMAC Studios, After School Music and Art Classes.

She is a Young Community Activist who participated and raised money and awareness for beat breast cancer through the Susan G. Komen Bahamas Race for the Cure. She participated in the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival. In addition, Shari designed and sold T-Shirts to raise money and awareness about the Old Bight Children’s Home in Old Bight, Cat Island.

Shari’s Principal Mrs. Gillian Wilson noted that “Shari has consistently demonstrated her versatility by balancing her academic workload with her extra-curricular activities.”  She is involved in the CCD Programme at her church, St. Francis Xavier Cathedral.
